The Ethnic Yi live in the remote, mountainous Southwest China, and have a long tradition of handcrafted embroidery, lacquer ware, and silver accessories. This large piece took approximately a month to hand stitch, and you will find its geometric motifs and use of colors truly inspiring and imaginative, making it a superb and unique piece of textile art for home décor!

In 2008, the Chinese government aligned with the United Nations UNESCO heritage policy, accredited Yi Tribe Embroidery an Intangible Cultural Heritage, recognizing its contribution to cultural diversity and human creativity, safeguarding this human treasure and allowing it to be kept alive.
